Applications for Travel Grants

The Japan Surgical Society encourages young surgeons from other countries to submit papers on clinical studies and basic research in the International Session (Oral Presentations or Poster Session).

1. Young surgeons or surgical residents (who do not have Japanese nationality, and aged 40 and under at the time of abstract submission) working or training in countries other than Japan are eligible. (Members of the JSS and Study abroad is ineligible.) Only one abstract per applicant may be submitted.
2. Presentations at the Congress will be given in English.
3. Abstracts must be 250 words or less. Please note that you cannot complete registration if your abstract text contains more than 250 words.
4. The amount of grants will be $1,000 USD for Asian countries and $2,000 USD for countries outside Asia, with free Congress registration. Nippon Travel Agency will help with arranging accommodation and travel. The 127th Annual Congress of the Japan Surgical Society Travel Desk

5. The Congress President reserves the right of acceptance or rejection for all submitted presentations.
6. Applicants must take responsibility for obtaining the visa required to enter Japan.
7. Recipients of travel grants will be announced individually by December, 2026.
8. To offer this opportunity to as many young surgeons & surgical residents as possible, past recipients of travel grants at on-site meetings will be eligible for a total of 2 travel grants.
9. The amount will be determined based on your country/region of your abstract registration.
10. If any false information is found in the submitted abstract, the abstract may be withdrawn, and the relevant committee may consider further action regarding the submission and the applicant.
